Now that you know how to make a sphere in Sketchup, what can you make with it?

Mr. Vinson will be going over how to make other shapes with the Follow Me tool.

What do you want to make with a sphere? A UFO? A Minion? An addition to your clock? You decide. Then turn in your progress here.

  2. Check TEAMS grade for Monday 4-19: How does an Ordinary Clock Work?
  3. Make a sphere in Sketchup. It should be sized EXACTLY like a specific sports ball of your choice. (Research diameter on Google). You will be turning it in with the dimension lines, as shown in this picture. Use Millimeters.

This week, students will be finishing up their clock holder. If you haven't already started making your clock holder, THINK SKETCHUP today. The shapes within Sketchup will give you the opportunity to make the exact sizes you're looking for to build your clock holder.

Specifications are below under last week's daily checkout.

  • Grades are updated in ATLAS. When you turn in any late work, please remember to send me a private chat so I can update your grade.
  • Work on making your Clock holder, however you want; but if you are unsure use Sketchup.
  • Daily Checkout will be announced at the end of class.

MISSED THE LESSON? Watch the video recap here.

Students will be able to:
  • Design experiments to describe how variables affect the motion of a pendulum.
  • Use a photogate timer to determine quantitatively how the period of a pendulum depends on the variables you described.
Use the simulator to answer the following questions in your own words, using complete sentences.

Students will be able to imagine, design, & create an innovative clock

Tuesday 4-13 and Wednesday 4-14
  • Wheel of Fortune (Whole Class: Virtual and In-Person)
  • Make sure you have turned in your Hobby Shed item (Teams Assignments) AND your Hobby Shed Progress (Below)
  • You are then designing a CLOCK. Well, more like a CLOCK HOLDER. The CLOCK INSERT you will be given has a diameter of 55mm. IF Sketchup is looking for a radius, how would you calculate that length?
  • Become active!

This week, students will be customizing the interior of their hobby shed. Items other than the main item you designed can be downloaded from the 3d warehouse.

Really think about the layout and design of your hobby shed's interior. Make it function for your desired hobby.

At the end of each period, please make sure you come back to the meeting so you remember to turn in the exit ticket!
